A man brandishing a knife made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after robbing the Gas N Go filling station in Nanaimo in the early hours of Wednesday.
Nanaimo RCMP said the suspect in the 3:40 a.m. incident is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s.
It’s not known what direction he went after fleeing the gas station at 2199 Trans-Canada Highway. Police released images of the suspect caught on surveillance cameras inside the store.
He is described as five-foot-10 to six feet tall with a thin build. During the robbery, the male wore a blue T-shirt, dark pants, striped runners, a black ball cap and dark-rimmed glasses. His face was partially concealed with a white-cloth wrapping.
The Nanaimo RCMP is asking anyone with information on the robbery or who saw anything suspicious before or after the incident to contact them.
Any drivers in the area between 3:30 and 4 a.m. on Wednesday are asked to review their dashcam video. Anyone with information is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
