Jakob Jewett sidelined with hand injury

The reigning Canadian Open DH champ will miss the 2025 World Cup opener in Bielsko-Biala

Jakob Jewett's fans will need to wait longer than expected to see him back in action.

The Squamolian mountain bike racer took to social media on Thursday to reveal that he is still suffering from an untimely ailment. 

"Unfortunately, I will be sidelined for [the World Cup downhill opener in Bielsko-Biala,] Poland next week," Jewett wrote. "A little over a month ago, I ended up injuring my hand down at before even practicing. I was definitely bummed at the time, but the injury seemed pretty straightforward, so I assumed that I would be back sooner than later.

"Unfortunately it hasn’t been that easy. Things are healing well, but it’s definitely taking longer than originally estimated. I’ve tried my best to stay busy during this time, but it’s been hard not to be on the bike recently." 

Jewett did not reveal an exact timeline for his return, but promised that he "will be back soon." Locals, of course, know him as the reigning and two-time winner of

Things kick off in Bielsko-Biala from May 16 to 18.
