This letter was copied to The Chief for publication. Dear Mayor and Council, I would like to voice my concerns regarding the proposed firefighter cutbacks.

Tonight (May 29), my daughter, my youngest child, walks across the stage at Brennan Park Leisure Centre for her high school commencement ceremony. Two weeks after that (June 17) my son, my eldest, will graduate from BCIT.

I wish to provide some background to the current discussions about the 2010 school calendar for Whistler Secondary School. Concerns are being expressed about both the substance and the process of board decisions.

I deeply regret not having had the time to write about ["Bear locks infringe rights," The Chief letters, May 22] until now. I thank all those who have though, and I am very glad the community is not letting this issue lie.

In response to Paul Demer's column re: trail naming ["What's in a trail's name?" The Chief, May 15]. Great column, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's a sad truth that video gamers are still a greatly maligned segment of the population.

On April 21 I spoke before council. I questioned their decision (unanimous) on the bylaw ordering us to buy bear locks. I in no way condone this intrusion in one's private affairs. The bins are the property of Mr. Carney - his bin, his problem.

Thank you so much to The Chief for choosing me to win the What My Mother Means to Me Contest. My Mom, Dad and I went to Pepe and Gringo's for lunch the other day and it was delicious. We sat on the sunny patio, coloured and ate some yummy tacos.

I write to you today from California's Palm Desert in the Arid Coachella Valley. Once a playground for vintage Hollywood greats like Sinatra, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis, one needs only to spend a day here to realize why.
